About
A Letter from a Youth Producer

During my first two years at Wide Angle my mentor was Ms. Charday Hall. She helped me to overcome my shyness. The first time she helped me was when I started crying because I had to read a poem I had done, and it was too much for me to stand up in front of the class. She allowed me to have what we call “bubble space,” which is basically a personal time-out, and afterwards she encouraged me daily. I must say Ms. Charday is my favorite mentor because she helped me overcome so much.
Every year I try to get involved in as many Wide Angle programs as I can. Now that I am in high school I have joined their Mentoring Video Program, MVP for short. I come back every year because of the different opportunities we are offered, and the fact that this is a place where Baltimore youth are given a chance to voice their opinions and share their feelings about both everyday things and important matters like education, gangs, and the environment. Besides media skills we learn leadership, teambuilding, public speaking, problem-solving, and how to work with diverse sorts of people. These things are very valuable even if our future career isn’t in media. Wide Angle helps us learn important LIFE skills!
Wide Angle is a Non-Profit Organization - in other words we depend on the donations from people like you to exist. The money we receive is used for equipment, snacks, transportation, and the rest of our necessities. So I kindly ask if would make a generous donation to help us better our programs. We would really appreciate it, and you would be helping many children such as myself to have a wonderful experience.
Sincerely,

Donasiah Clapperton, MVP Youth Producer
