Indigo Sanders on "The Souls of Black Girls"

Wide Angle Veteran and current Mentoring Video Project member Indigo Sanders recently joined the Girls Speak Out Program for a special screening of the documentary, Souls of Black Girls at Morgan State University. Here’s what she had to say:
Souls of Black Girls is a powerful and deeply moving film about the lost identity among women of color. Before the screening began the girls from GSOP and I were able to meet and have our very own personal question answer session with the films creator Daphne Valerius. The documentary featured interviews with Regina King , Jada Pinkett Smith, and Gwen Iffel along with other younger women. I really enjoyed hearing their honest opinions of how women of color are portrayed on a daily basis in the media. It was refreshing to see so called Hollywood "stars" being real.
After the screening a few of the students from the GSOP program expressed how they felt about the film. Bria said "I liked it. It is something that I would like to show my family." Andrea said "It was inspirational." As a young woman of color and a filmmaker, I definitely recommend seeing this film!
