David Sloan

PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

David Sloan is a media producer and educator based in Baltimore, MD. He received his MA in Community Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2008. David’s teaching strategy is rooted in the belief that telling your story, and the story of your community, builds personal agency and helps us to envision a better world.

As the Production Director for Wide Angle Productions, David helped to spearhead the first state-certified Apprenticeships in digital video production within the state of Maryland. David works with Wide Angle's Multimedia Apprentices to produce content for local and national clients, ranging from grassroots nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies. The videos produced by Wide Angle’s Productions department have been accepted into film festivals around America, and have been distributed on Maryland Public Television’s long-running “Artworks” program. These work experiences help young creatives start their careers strong, with real-world work samples and thousands of hours behind the camera or at an editing station.

The most rewarding part of David’s job is seeing young people take these skills out into the field - building their own companies, doing amazing freelance work, or landing a position with another company. Over time, David hopes that Wide Angle will change the media and communications industries, as more young people from our city take on creative leadership roles in Baltimore and beyond. In his free time, David loves making images the old-fashioned way with his medium-format film camera.
