HOW IT WORKS

We employ apprentices and interns who are Baltimore-area youth, ages 18-24. As budding storytellers, they concept, shoot and edit stories from start to finish. They’re guided by our professional mentors - experts with decades of experience in their fields - who teach them valuable, concrete skills that they can apply to their careers. As a result, each finished project equals the quality of a production house but has the added benefit of making a positive difference in the lives of its creators.

Wide Angle Productions is fee-for-service program of Wide Angle Youth Media, a nonprofit that uses media education to inspire creativity and instill confidence in young people ages 10-24, empowering them with skills to navigate school, career, and life.

WHY IT WORKS

As a team, our goals are to:

  • Build inclusive, diverse programs accessible to everyone.

  • Tell truthful, powerful stories.

  • Support marginalized voices and viewpoints.

  • Innovate ways to communicate across generational, cultural and social divides.

Therefore, the result is always net-positive: we deliver measurable results for our clients while supporting the next generation of storytellers. By working with Wide Angle, you’re affirming your own commitment to quality, creativity and the future of Baltimore’s youth.

 Testimonials

“Wide Angle Productions helped us with a complicated project -- shooting events at three public schools in Baltimore -- and pulled it off extremely well. Their team was responsive and handled unexpected issues well. The video captured the events beautifully and helped a local nonprofit program tell its story effectively. A pleasure to work with.”

Tom Waldron, President, Waldron Strategies

“David Sloan and his crew from Wide Angle Youth Media went above and beyond to make the filming experience comfortable and even enjoyable. I was quite anxious about the prospect of being filmed and if I am honest, was not looking forward to it. David and his team acknowledged this and through their kindness and professionalism made me feel relaxed and comfortable. He not only put me at ease, but also made sure that everyone involved was comfortable with the process and had a good time doing it!”

Shelley Ensor, Gospel Choir Director & 2022 Heritage Award Winner

“Thanks to the photography team at Wide Angle Youth Media, our new website and brand materials better represent our identity as an organization aiming to rebuild Baltimore City and eliminate blight. Their photos perfectly encapsulate the diverse beauty of our city’s built environment as well as the challenging areas our organization deals with. We are so appreciative of our partnership with WAYM and the visual archive they have created for our organization, while providing these young artists the opportunity to express their creativity and expand their professional portfolio. We cannot wait to see what else they accomplish through their lenses.”

Briana Richert, Communications and Content Coordinator, One House At A Time

“I was completely blown away by the professionalism and creativity! I know my work and passion inside and out, but sharing it externally has required a lot of growth, coaching, and concerted effort over the last year. Your students not only made me feel comfortable, confident, and very at ease, but they're totally a total class act!…Having the gift of this video is an absolute gift, and one for which I am immensely grateful. With all the gratitude in the world, I appreciate each and every one of you.”
