INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGER, ADOBE

“Fall down seven times, get up eight”…leaning on this quote, Phyllis Carter is no stranger to persistence and perseverance.  Born and raised in the rural Mississippi Delta, she continuously witnessed environmental adversity and challenges. However, she decided she would never be a statistic and would pave her own way to success.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2007 from Jackson State University, Phyllis moved to the DC Metro Area to follow her dreams. Phyllis has over 16 years of notable audit and consulting experience, which includes change management, business process re-engineering, and financial management systems implementation initiatives. She’s worked at notable public accounting and consulting firms over the years such as Deloitte and Touché, LLP, KPMG, LLP, Guidehouse, Acuity Consulting, Inc., and Williams Adley and Company, LLP. Recently, she’s made a pivot into the tech industry where she currently works at Adobe, Inc. as an Internal Audit Manager.

In her spare time, Phyllis enjoys being a servant to her community. In addition to serving as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she is also a member of the NABA Inc. Metro DC Chapter, where she served in Executive level leadership for 12 years and was a former President for 3.5 years. In addition to her involvement with AKA and NABA, she’s also done various community service work with other organizations such as Girl Scouts of America, Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance (DC Chapter), Capital Area Food Bank, Junior Achievement, and Food and Friends, Inc. Phyllis’s goal is to make a positive impact through her career not only in the accounting and tech industry but the community at large.
